About Guia Peñin awards:
For its tastings, the Spanish wine-maker Peñín has a working group of experts, who are experienced in the sensory analysis of wine regions. In addition to the processing of databases, which contain more than 100,000 tasting notes of all wine producers’ editions, this working group has knowledge about the development of each brand over the time and the international quality of the vintage. Thus errors in the deviations of the evaluations can be avoided and at the same time checked whether the error or the deficiency of a wine is due to the real quality of the brand or to the condition of the bottle. For wines rated at over 93 points, a second evaluation (second tasting) of the brand is carried out. The wines, which are also located in this area, serve as the basis for comparison. The working group headed by José Peñín consists of Carlos González, Javier Luengo, Carlos del Hoyo, Erika Laymuns and Maite Corsín (wine journalist) ).
